LITTLE TAEKWONDO  ATHLETES WON MEDALS

Taekwondo club “Astra” in cooperation with City Municipality of Palilula, successfully performed at Cup of Serbia for pioneers and cadets, which was held at the end of September in Ruma. On this sports competition by the words of the coach of Club Alexander Stamenkovic, participated six small competitors (category until 10 years old). They had received appearance. Silver medals were won by Dusan Stevanovic and Andriana Milojevic, two broneze: Nenad Zivkovic and Nikola Nikolic and Nikola Zivkovic and Aleksa Spasic occupied fourth place. Club taekwondo “Astra” exist three years and currently is working on territory of Palilula Municipality. Support of the Municipality to the youngest competitors became a praxis to our work and its defined within Strategy of development of our organization of local government of the City of Nis – says Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, president of the Palilula Municipality.

TaeKwonDo is Olympic martial art known at his fast, high and attractive kicks. Originating from Korea, formed in XIX century, and today all across the world taekwondo is practicing as a sport, self-defence and recreation. Taekwondo is named by merging of three Korean words: “tae” – which means leg (or kick with leg); “kwon” – fist (or punch); and from word “do” which in wide sense represents the path (way, system). According to this, word Taekwondo would literally mean “way of the leg and arm” or “ way of faith by legs and arms”.
